Firstly, any ethical issues aside - clubs can't break the cap even if they wanted to these days as it is live - the players wouldn't be registered to play. Secondly, are you aware that Wigan were recently the only club to vote in favour of scrapping the salary cap at a recent vote? It was voted down 11-1.
That answers all the arguments about the priorities of the other clubs then. They'd rather win a poor league, than play in a great one. And to think, actual fans of Wigan think we should just accept it. What's the point in having power if you aren't going to use it? Like I said, enjoy watching Wigan Globe Trotters if that’s your idea of fun. You make the most bizarre statements then accuse people of not responding then ignore the fact you look silly when they do and go on another mad train of debate. Very random indeed.

Warrington fan here ... Just a personal opinion on clapping players ... I think over 40 years I have walked away from a ground without applauding the Warrington players off on very few occasions. They only time I personally believe you reserve the right not to applaud is when it is obvious that the team are not trying.
Other than that those players are putting their bodies on the line for your entertainment and enjoyment. It doesnt matter if you think they are good enough or the right player. Things go wrongI but if they give their best they should be applauded for it.
Happy clapping isn't about supporting the players on the pitch, it's about just going along with whatever the club decides - even if you believe it to be wrong.
It will always be wrong (imo) that the club has the resources to retain and strengthen the squad - but instead decides to follow the rules of the cap. Especially when the real reason we have a cap in the 1st place, is because other clubs got jealous of our success. Ultimately it's the Wigan fans that suffer because of it. Like I said however the fans are at the bottom of the list of priorities. It's like a badly run Labour run council, they'll do what they want and keep getting away with it. Why? Because they know some simpletons will just keep voting for them no matter what. what are you talking about we have retained French, Field, Wardle, Thompson, Eckersley, Forber, Marshall, Junior, Walters and so on, so most of the team are signed up to long(er) term deals. Now the different question to be asked, is that a good way to manage the team and does it impact on a players performance, when they arent playing for a new deal And, whilst many of us dont agree with the cap, are you suggesting that Wigan deliberately break it and get punished for doing that, thus points deduction or whatever sanction the RFL throw at us in your words, that is the thought of a "simpleton" Not only am I advocating that we break the cap, I'm also advocating that we do it in the most blatant and public way possible. I'm a firm believer that, what's good for Wigan is good for the game (not that I care about the game like). Let the RFL come after us too. We're not here to be friends. Danson is billionaire who owns a media group. If he wanted to, he could drown them in a PR sh** storm whilst tangling them up in litigation. If Wigan one of, if not the biggest club in the game, wanted to make life difficult - it wouldn't be hard. RL in the UK wouldn't last a decade without us and everyone knows it. Time to be more bullish and self-centred. If this season has proven anything, it's that the rest of the league and it's fans hate us. Why concern ourselves with what they want? I’m getting xxBrettKennyxx tin foil hat vibes off this poster. The whole Wigan are bigger than the game stuff though is next level. Break all the rules and then see how much you win…..truly bizarre. Assuming this is trolling at its worst or best, not really sure. This is coming from a guy who once said Singleton was better than Havard and Smith wasn't going to make it. Now that's top tier trolling right there. Wigan are, imo, bigger than the game. You'd think a guy from Wakefield, who supports the club would get the draw of it. I'll be really, really clear here - I want to see the club that I support be able to determine it's own destiny. I absolutely believe in the potential of this club, it's history and think it could be a major sporting brand. If, in theory, Danson ever had a vision to create the RL equivalent of the Galaticos and wanted to run a £10m playing budget then he should be able to do so. We shouldn't be cucking ourselves however and seeing good prospects like Hill walk away because we've been forced to choose between him and Junior. If the club can't afford him, or don't want him - that's another matter. We know that's not the case however. Hardly controversial stuff really is it? Unless you hate Wigan that is... Welcome back Brett. I see the time away has not made you any less militant or sensible. You want to create a super brand by destroying a sport….how does that work? Wigan win everything by 80 points each week see how quickly people continue to watch the sport. It’s absolutely ludicrous but I’d expect nothing less. May look back at my DMs from years ago for a chuckle if I still have them. Not that I have to justify myself, but I'm not him - nor am I the other guy someone else said. Is this the new thing to do on RL Fans when you don't agree with someone? I also wasn't expecting an articulated reply, or counter arguments, so it's nice to see you met my expectations. You're completely right, we should keep doing what we've done for the last 25 (?) years. It's so obviously been working so well. Money is just flooding into the sport isn't it. The playing standard has never been higher etc. Arguably two of the world's biggest sporting clubs/brands/institutions (Real Madrid & Barcelona), play in a competition where it's one in two, maybe three, chance of winning the league. The league still thrives tho - as does the Spanish national side. How do you explain that? Instead RL want to tie the hands of the big sides, so smaller ones can "compete". It's fake and it benefits absolutely no one. Honestly, this might be hard to grasp - but try thinking outside of the "we've always done it this way" mentality of thinking. i sort of get your argument re Real / Barcelona, but to say the League is thriving is an exaggeration as it made losses up until recently. Real and i think Barcelona have both been bailed out by the Spanish government and Barca are under FFP constraints i think at the minute and having issues registering new players / need to deregister. Real seem to have a bottomless budget and no-one will challenge them which is probably where your argument sits in terms of what you want Wigan to do I dont agree with your viewpoint but admit that the salary cap isnt fit for purpose at its current level, and have often said its a race to the bottom and not to the top, so when Wigan, Saints, Leeds are winning, they try to bring them back down to the lower level and not improve to catch them You don't agree with my view point, but can see the cap isn't working? There's no benefit to any cap. Btw this might work against Wigan. God forbid it ever happened, but Moran at Wire might go balls to the wall and win the league. As a Wigan fan, I'd hate that - but at least I can see (like you alluded to), it's a race upwards and not down. Not sure on the overall finances, but Madrid recently became the 1st team to pass the $1b revenue mark. Deloitte Football Money League 2025: https://share.google/bNsseZr0uv1KupDxZ
We're obviously not in that league, but being one of two isn't harming them or the sport in that country is it? i think your view is more extreme (if thats the right term) than mine we sort of on the same page but i dont see any benefit of Wigan breaking the cap deliberately and p***ing off the rest of the league. Equally i want to see competition and clubs challenging Wigan, Saints , Leeds (which ever club is the current top dog) so its not just a one way competition. I dont really want to go to games and see Wigan win by 60+ points every week as there is seriously no enjoyment in that. I'd rather see them win 10-8 and it be an absolutely cracking game of rugby every day of the week, and accept that there will be days when they lose because the other side played better than them. I get the purpose of the cap was to produce a more even competition, and it has failed to achieve that overall, with only Wigan, Saints, Leeds and Bradford winning the GF i think there needs to be positive change and that includes all clubs having scholarship, academies, reserves etc as a starting point. The cap needs to be significantly increased with a view to potentially scrapping it, but it also needs to be sustainable for clubs so we actually have a sport to watch. If a club decides not to spend up to the cap (which they dont all do now) then that is their choice, but dont hold a club(s) back for being able to spend £5m for example just because others can only afford £2m i dont like the change in regards to 10 overseas players, as it is either going to prevent the development of some youngsters as the squad place is going to be taken by an average overseas player (see Darryl Powells comments - in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks it is going to improve the competition) or we are just going to be an outlet for more past it / 2nd grade Ozzies looking for a pay day. If anything linked to my previous comment i would have reduced it and also reduced to a 10 team league until everyone has academies etc, and then when the player pool / pathway is there, then look to grow back to 12 teams Diluting the quality of the competition isnt the way to attract new fans, TV money or investment. The product on the pitch needs to improve to enable the potential of growing revenues

You've decided, for some strange reason, they don't count. Madrid should be the absolute goal for every sporting club in the world. They produce world class players, sign top tier talent - all whilst making money hand over fist and doing what's right for them. Do you think they care that a team like Girona don't get to compete?

If that's the case then slow cap for Radlinski.
Freshen things up - people are paying hard earned money to watch us win, not to see a load of kids or lads who are knackered.
Just make it happen, whatever it takes to make Wigan get 3 in a row.
I've never known a club that puts the wants of its fan base so low down on its agenda.
I have never known a club to win as many trophies as Wigan has in the history of RL,somebody must be doing something right but maybe it's not for everyone supporting the most successful club in RL. Keep happy clapping until the end. OH I will,Wigan have given me so much pleasure from Hanley/Edwards/Richards/Faz/Tomkins/Lockers etc etc that no other team could match that,so I will carry on supporting the greatest RL team of all time while you carry on bitching and whining about the current Champions and WCC holders at the same time. Good one. Says more about and your intelligence (or lack of it) than anything else. Absolutely nothing noble about being a happy clapping enabler. So you have decided that I and many others that do not agree with your insane ramblings of a troubled mind are lacking of intelligence,I would say every one of the replies that derided you statement (and the following ones) are far more intelligent than you are
