Quote Butcher="Butcher"=#FF0000Realistically they'd have had all the production and staffing sorted for weeks leading up to that, and Salford only announced their squad on Friday. I agree that it wasn't a great game to show even will full strength sides, but to do it at short notice probably wouldn't have been an option for them.
Agree with everything above though - it's appalling behaviour and Rowley coming out and trying to defend it has really sent him down in my estimation. It's teenage behaviour. He said he couldn't pick the same squad as against Midlands last week (basically his first team without Sneyd, Watkins, and Lafai) because "they had injuries". Why not just replace those injured players with reserves? You know, like every other team does through the season?
He picked that team because he's a baby who wants to force the RFL's hand and at least make someone look silly, even if it's rugby league as a whole, or the RFL. The same governing body that made a decision to advance them half a million quid. They didn't need to do that - they've taken a risk because they don't want Salford to go bust. Now the RFL have essentially asked them to cut their cloth so they don't go bust again, and all of a sudden Salford are the being hard done by?
I hope we smash them.'"
It's actually not that difficult - the camera teams etc. are freelance now, and they could have easily been accomodated at Headingley - and bearing in mind, that some of the crews were already there producing it for Sky + (Yes, i know that was rubbish, but it would have been better...)
